STRUCTURE
Grasshopper is an algorithmic graphical editor tightly integrated with Rhinoceros and its modeling tools. Unlike RhinoScript, Grasshopper does not require prior programming or scripting knowledge, enabling designers and architects to work generatively and parametrically in an accessible way.
Parametric design is generated through the combination of geometry and parameters. Parameters are variables that can be modified at any stage of the 3D modeling process, allowing the model to update automatically without the need to redraw the affected area. Examples of parameters include the cross-section of a column, the floor-to-ceiling height, the distance to a reference point, or the amount of light entering each window on a façade.
Another key feature of parametric design is the ability to automate design and modeling processes. With simple workflows, it’s possible to generate complex geometries—always based on parameters we define, eliminating arbitrariness from the design process. In this Grasshopper for Rhino course, participants will begin with a series of basic exercises before progressing to the parametric development of complex surfaces.

- Is previous knowledge in Rhino required?
Not at all. Just some basics in Rhino would be enough. You also have access to pre-recorded Grasshopper courses at different levels on our virtual campus HERE
- Are sessions recorded?
The sessions are live, and we encourage you to attend them to obtain the certificate. However, due to personal circumstances or time zone differences, the sessions will be recorded and available for viewing for two weeks from the start of the course.
- How do I access the sessions?
A few days before the course starts, we will provide you with access to our online platform, where you can download materials, ask questions, join live Zoom sessions, and watch recorded sessions.
- What if I’m a Mac user?
Grasshopper is almost the same in Mac and Windows, so for this course it is not a problem.
