Participants are expected to have prior experience with Grasshopper and some knowledge of data trees, or to have completed the Basic Grasshopper course Grasshopper Basics we offer.

Program

Our Grasshopper training course for engineering professionals will explore the implementation of vector force fields in design, a native feature of the Grasshopper plugin. Force fields represent the interaction of different gravitational forces and their effect on particles in space. They can be applied across a wide range of design disciplines, from 2D and 3D works to product design, architectural design, and urban design.

STRUCTURE

The workshop will be divided into three parts:

The first part will provide a fundamental understanding of using forcefields to create various 2D artworks.
The second part will introduce more advanced techniques for applying forcefields to generate 3D geometries, including both curve-based and mesh-based forms.
The third and final part will explore how forcefields can be used to manipulate base geometries to create unique and intriguing artifacts.

However, to accommodate personal circumstances or time zone differences, all sessions will be recorded and made available for viewing for two weeks from the start of the course.

What if I’m a Mac user?

Grasshopper is almost the same in Mac and Windows, so for this course it is not a problem.
